How to use PingPlotter Quick Trace Links
Can I open traces in PingPlotter from a browser?
Yes you can! We call them PingPlotter Quick Trace Links and they allow you to use and share links that automatically start a trace to a specific endpoint, helping you solve your own issues quickly while also making it easier to troubleshoot problems for those who might not be the most net-savvy. When a link is clicked it will open in a browser and then populate in PingPlotter.This feature should work in version 5.15.7 or any newer versions.
Here is the syntax for a Quick Trace Link:
- For a sinlge trace you ask the browser to open it in PingPlotter by using this format: pingplotter://trace/www.pingplotter.com
- If you want to give the trace a name you can use this format: pingplotter://trace/188.8.131.52%20Google%20DNS%20Server (note: it's important to keep the %20 for any spaces)
- You can also do multiple traces by using this format: pingplotter://trace/184.108.40.206/220.127.116.11/18.104.22.168/22.214.171.124
- You can also add names for multiple addresses like this: pingplotter://trace/126.96.36.199%20Google%20DNS/188.8.131.52%20CloudFlare/184.108.40.206/220.127.116.11
