It seems like PP should handle situations where whois.crsnic.net and whois.arin.net don't have the information. If the result is an error message saying, "Look for this on apnic," then why doesn't PP just automatically look for it on APNIC? Ditto for WHOIS.

The challenge is that the WhoIs agencies change their format pretty regularily, so parsing for the right answer is sure to cause future breakage. We're considering some mechanisms for making this more flexible, but haven't gotten the right mix of easy-to-use and resilient to change just yet.

If you have any time-tested parsing algorithms for parsing whois responses, please send them to us!

Does ARIN change so much? It seems like there is a limited set of ARIN-type databases, for APNIC, etc. The name of the group is always in there, when it fails to find it in ARIN.
