Hello everyone,

I have a really annoying problem where my wired internet connection drops out every half an hour precisely.
I downloaded pingplotter to see if the disconnects happened at certain times, and they did happen at xx:10 xx:12 and xx:40 xx:42

I put the plots which show it in this spoiler
Click to reveal..

I would really appreciate if someone knew what caused the problem or even greater, someone who can help me fix the problem.

Some information about my wiring and routers
My modem is connected with my Belkin router which is connected with a router extension. It is not only my pc with the 30 minute disconnects but it happens on every device in the house.

Best regards,
Jesse

Hey Jesse,

Thanks for writing in!

Is hop #3 the first place that you notice the pattern of packet loss in PingPlotter - or does it occur earlier in the route (at either of the first 2 hops)? I'm assuming that hop #1 and #2 would be your modem and router. If this pattern is occurring in either of these spots, then that would imply the culprit is somewhere inside of your home network. If this is the case; your next steps should be to eliminate any variables you have control of to try and narrow down whatever may be causing your issue (and we've got a guide that provides some strategies for doing this, have a look here: http://www.pingplotter.com/netnirvana/)

If hop #3 is the first place that this pattern presents itself - then this could potentially be an issue with your ISP. If this is the case, it's *probably* time to give them a call (and be sure to have your PingPlotter data ready!).

We've got a few examples of PingPlotter results (with some in-depth descriptions) that look pretty similar to yours here - one where bad wiring/hardware inside of the home network is the problem:

http://www.pingplotter.com/commonnetworkproblems/#badwiring

And another where the ISP's equipment is to blame:

http://www.pingplotter.com/commonnetworkproblems/#hardwareisp

Hopefully this helps out! If you have any other questions, or if you need any other help - don't hesitate to let us know.

Best wishes,

-Gary

(P.S. - It looks like your evaluation period is expired, and it *may* be time to buy a license wink )
