New to the software. Tried setting up a few monitor via remote agent. Wonder if its possible to enable the hostname resolving to be based on the remote agent rather the hosting server. e.g. host in Aus, remote agent at HK.

thank you for your time.

Hi Arthur,

Thanks for posting on the forum!

Our remote legacy agent has more than a few limitations. Currently, there isn't a way to force the DNS names to be resolved by the agent vs the client. You can, however, give any target or hop an alias on the client machine to more easily keep track of your traces. To do this you can either enter the target IP address followed by a space and then the alias name (Example: 192.168.1.1 Asus Router). You can also right-click on any target or hop, hover over the hose name and select **Edit Name** and enter a new name. See this article for more details:

We have moved away from using the remote agent because of its many limitations, especially with reliability. Currently, if the remote agent goes offline for any reason you will lose any trace data during that time. We have developed a new product called CloudConnect which addresses many of the shortcomings of the legacy remote agent. CloudConnect is currently still in Beta but it is getting closer to being released as a full product offering. If you would like to learn more about CloudConnect you can go here:

https://pingplotter.com/beta/cloud-connect-get-started.html

If you would like to try out CloudConnect you may do so free of charge until the Beta period ends.

Let us know if you have any other questions, we're happy to help!

Thanks,

-Poe
