I had Pingplotter 2.30 working under Wine in my Mandrake 9.2 installation.
Now that I have migrated to Mandrake 10.1 I am having problems.

The Mandrake 10.1 is a new install and Wine and Pingplotter installs OK.

Pingplotter also starts OK but can not ping anything (Destination address unreachable) Not even my router.
Firewall is turned off and no problem pinging from the terminal.
Access to internet also works OK.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi.

We don't *officially* support PingPlotter under Wine, but we have had some pretty good success with this, although we've not tested specifically under Mandrake 10.1.

Version 2.30.1 supports *only* ICMP using ICMP.DLL (which Wine normally emulates). If you're having problems with this, it might be worth downloading the latest version of PingPlotter (2.60) and give it a run with one of the other packet types (ie: ICMP raw sockets or UDP - both of which have been tested with success under one build of Linux or another).

Beyond that, if you're a licensed user, email our support team (support@pingplotter.com), letting us know how to track you down in our license database, and we'll see about installing Mandrake and helping you get things working.

First of let me yell you what give my OS details:

Debian Lenny 5.0.2
Kernel 2.6.26-1-686
Wine 1.0.1

Anybody have a work around for running PingPlotter as root?

Mark

Hi, Mark.

I think that root is required to do raw sockets, and ICMP.DLL and our other packet types do require raw sockets under Wine.
