I am using pingplotter to help someone troubleshoot intermittent slowness when using a web application. I've had them run pingplotter for around 5 hours yesterday. Given that I don't a whole lot of practice diagnosing issues based on pingplotter yet I'd appreciate any assistance.

It seems to be that the graph is displaying a fair amount of up and down regarding latency, which could be a cause of intermittent poor performance. Am I in the ballpark?

Hey Mike,

The results you've got here (the latency fluctuation and packet loss) could *definitely* be a sign of poor performance. Your results look fairly similar to one of our examples of bandwidth saturation (except without the good "before" and "after" periods), have a look:

http://www.pingplotter.com/commonnetworkproblems/#bandwidthsat

Your goal here should be to correlate any "problem" patterns that you see in PingPlotter with instances of poor network performance, and then start to narrow down any variables (that you have control over) to see if you can isolate what may be causing the issue. We've got a guide that goes over this process in more detail (and provides a few strategies), which may help out here:

Hopefully this proves helpful! If you should find yourself with any other questions - please don't hesitate to let us know.

Best wishes,

-Gary
