Hello,

I use PingPlotter Pro 3.00 and i want to know if it exists a way to view or to edit the auto_save data like in the alert emails (not in opening the .pp2 with Pingplotter.exe)
I have tried to edit the save .pp2 but i can't have the data as a text file.
thx for your answer

Alex

Hi, Alex.

I'm not sure I can really answer your question here - you didn't say what you're trying to do with the data. I'll give it a whirl, though.

It *sounds* like you're trying to access the data as a text file. You can do that by setting up an alert (not an email) to write this data. We cover this topic here:

http://www.nessoft.com/kb/26

If that's not what you're after, please elaborate a bit more on your needs. We do not publish the file format for direct editing, although we do have some "available on request only" tools to help you manipulate the data a bit - just let us know what you're after and we'll see if we have something to help.

Hi,

Thx for your answer, do you have an "available on request only" tool that allows the export of the data, in Microsoft Excel for example.

thx

We have a built in one that does that.

See

and

http://www.nessoft.com/kb/4

for a discussion of this.

No. The best way to do that, if you need it, is to set up the "Log to file" alert (http://www.nessoft.com/kb/26), as that will log continuously. You can set up an alert file name that includes the day (ie: $host $date.txt or similar) and then you'll have a new file every day automatically.

There's no way to schedule an export, although if you're using PingPlotter Pro, we can probably help you set up a script that will do this - possibly in the form of a VBA script directly in Excel. This is advanced course, though - we have an Excel spreadsheet someplace here that has VBA code that uses the PingPlotter Pro API to load a .pp2 file, then pull it into the spreadsheet - but nothing that does it automatically based on time.

Here's the example spreadsheet I talked about. The interesting stuff is all in the VBA Macro. If you're familiar with Excel scripting at all, this should be relatively simple to modify.

Access PingPlotter Data programmatically.zip
