Hey,

Just started using the program a few minutes ago, and I am fairly new to terminology that has to do with networking... so please bare with me if I don't understand your response, I'll try my best.

Anyway, as soon as I run a trace on any location my first hop is my own ip (which is fine, no packet loss) then the second hop shows 100% packet loss.. and that's it, nothing else in that row. The background of the hop number isn't red or green, it's white. What does that mean?

The rest of the hops are all fine.

Hi. Having a single hop that doesn't respond is relatively normal. For some information, see:

In your situation, it sounds like the router at hop 2 just doesn't respond to requests where TTL=0 - which means it always shows 100% loss at that hop. It's not a critical problem, though - and pretty normal, really (see the topics above for some reasons on that).
