Labels or tags on Summary screen?

Labels or tags on Summary screen? - 09/09/07 07:30 PM

I'm watching some machines, but I can't tell which ones they are on my summary screen. For instance:

outbound1.vitelity.net
aka
64.2.142.17
aka
64.2.142.17.ptr.us.xo.net

shows up on the summary screen as 64.2.142.17.ptr.us.xo.net instead of outbound1.vitelity.net

Is there any way to set which of the available names it uses, or assign my own?

Thanks!

Try using the script available here:

http://www.nessoft.com/forums/showflat.php?Number=1697

We also have a script we're testing that will allow you to rename a target with the right-click menu. Email us at support@pingplotter.com if you want to try that out.

The script works on the console, but not on the Webserver, is there an easy way to make it work on the Webserver?

I *think* (based on some testing I just did here) the problem is actually that the script only works on new targets, not ones that are loaded from disk. It's likely that you're looking at some sample sets that are being loaded automatically on startup, and the script only does the "correction" when a reverse DNS lookup is done.

Please verify that, and if that is the case, I can make a correction to the script to also do the change when a dataset is loaded.

Hi Pete,

Yes, it does the right thing on new targets, and the new script you Emailed me does the right thing on old targets too!

Thanks!
