Memory leaks/performance problems /w extended use - 09/30/00 01:30 PM

I noticed in PP v2.20 that using the program for extended periods of time causes a huge degredation in performance. Even say after 10 minutes of continuous tracing. What causes this? I causes the system to become slow and unresponsive. For example when I'm playing quake and monitoring the connection at the same time it makes the system 'stutter'. Any info on why this might be?

Hi George.

I'd be interested in any more details you have here. I run Ping Plotter continuously (24 hours a day), and get 50,000 samples in memory (I usually cut off my max samples at 50K). What kind of trace interval do you use? Does it seem like it gets slow at the same number of samples taken? Do you think it depends on lost packets in any way?

I'm guessing you're using Windows 98 when you see this happen. I'll set up my Win98 machine doing some long-term testing to see if I can reproduce some of this.
