USB DRive install

USB DRive install - 05/01/08 10:40 AM

I've had a trawl through the forums and if I've missed this I apologize. I'm evaluating PingPlotter Standard and it's looking pretty good I must say. The one thing that would be the final selling point would be if it were possible to install it and run it on a USB stick on any machine I'm working on. Can anyone offer advice on installing it and making it run from a USB stick?
Many thanks,
Dave H

Hi, Dave.

Have a look here:

http://www.pingplotter.com/manual/pro/running_from_a_usb_drive.html

The documentation is about Pro, but the Standard version works just the same.

Let us know if that leaves you with problems or questions.

Best wishes,
Pete

Pete,
that explains why I missed it! I didn't look in the Pro manuals.
It looks so simple. I'll give it a try when I get back on site next Tuesday. I assume that it'll still work with the evaluation copy?

Cheers,

The settings will all be stored on the USB key, but USB installs are really built for licensed users. PingPlotter doesn't go into "USB-specific" mode until it sees the license file. If you've got it on your USB drive and you're carrying it around to multiple machines, you've probably moved beyond "evaluation" mode with PingPlotter. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

P.S. The USB documentation is in the standard help file too - the one that installs with PingPlotter. We're just overdue in getting the online version updated.
