General help needed - 07/05/07 05:08 AM

Good morning and hello for the first time here.

We have some problems reading these results properly.

As you can see there a few "time outs" or sort of things in the 30minutes overview. But same red bars are only small or tiny peaks in the 6 hours overview.

Trace interval set to 0.5s

Is this a packet loss, or is the response time too high to get it back before the next ping?
Why have these red bars different heights?

Thanks a lot in advance.

I apologize if some of this is already in the knowledge base - I havenīt found anything.

Good morning!

We do cover this topic in our knowledge base - here:

http://www.nessoft.com/kb/20

Further elaboration just a bit ... the "Time to wait for Ping Replies" in the engine settings is the only thing that says how long to wait for timeouts. If you have this set for 10 seconds, PingPlotter will wait 10 seconds for a timeout, even if your trace interval is set to 0.5 seconds.

Please let us know if this leaves you with any questions.

Thanks for the Link and your answer.

Do you mean the "Timeout-Speed"?
I canīt find the "Time to wait for Ping replies".

Yes - Timeout speed is the setting I mean here. We've changed the description for the upcoming 3.2 release, and I was looking at that when I wrote the reply. Oops.
