Hey all
Does anybody know how to switch off the data execution prevention feature in Windows XP?

Yup.

Right-click "My Computer", go to "Properties". Go to the "Advanced" tab. Click the "Settings" button in the "Performance" section. Go to the "Data Execution Protection" tab. Turn it off for the programs you're having problems with.

Note that we do significant testing of PingPlotter on machines with hardware Data Execution Protection and we have not seen any problems. If you're getting DEP errors with PingPlotter, please let us know at support@pingplotter.com.
