TCP Trace to port 443

TCP Trace to port 443 - 05/03/16 11:50 AM

I am troubleshooting poor performance that a user is experiencing when connecting to our website, and was asked by a colleague to get a PP TCP trace to port 443. We have looked at the connection with WinMTR but it is not giving us the needed detail. How do I set up PP to do that?

Thanks!

Hello,

Thanks for using the PingPlotter forums!

What you want to do (for PingPlotter version 5) is go into the engine settings. You can get there by going to "Edit" -> "Options" and under "Default Settings", choose "Engine". Once there, click the Packet Type dropdown menu and choose "TCP Packets (ie: HTTP, etc). Then under TCP Engine Settings, change the TCP Port to "Other" and input 443. Go ahead an click "OK".

Now, when you enter a target to trace to, you will be tracing using TCP packets on port 443.

I hope this helps. If you need any other help with this or anything else, feel free to email us at any time at support@pingplotter.com.

Cheers!
